Button, button whose got the button

So I ordered these two pair of courderoy pants off of Victoria's Secret. Now I'm not usually one to order pants off the internet, for a couple reasons. First because I'm 6 feet tall it's hard to find pants that are actually long enough and look right. Second because I don't tend to trust that it will fit right, so I'm an avid tryer-on-er. This deal was too good to pass up (On clearance for $19.99) Since when does VS ever have anything for under $20 that isn't a pair of cotton panties? Not only were they onsale for under $20 but they also had them in super tall (36 inch inseam) and because I had a $50 gift card from Christmas from my mother-in-law, it was a perfect match. I usually trust brand quality from VS, everything I've ever ordered from there is wonderful (of course it has to be IN STOCK or otherwise you're pretty much screwed). Ordered and happy I was counting down the days until they arrived. Well they came in and are WONDERFUL, until yesterday when I went to use the restroom and the button above the fly just *POOF* pops off. Oops, now I know that saying that says something like "pennywise but pound foolish"

This weekend we are going to my Papa's house to clean out the basement. Of course this has become weather permitting since we are supposedly supposed to get pounded with snow today and tomorrow. My mom wants to get rid of the extra old furniture and my grandma's clothes. My Aunt is coming and because my birthday is a couple days away she's making me her famous ice cream cone cupcakes. I'm very excited about them. It's been at least a decade since I've eaten them last.

Sunday we are having people over for the Superbowl/My birthday. I'll be 28 on Monday! How time flies. I was just thinking how 2001 wasn't that long ago, and it's been 7 years! And Mardi Gras week comes early this year. Hope you have you Pazckes ordered for Tuesday! I can't wait. It's worth the pound I'll gain from eating a couple or four of them!

It's been 4 months already?

Well today is the 4 month anniversary of the day Steve and I got married. Nothing too different besides Steve's still strong search for a new job. Of course this is Michigan after all. I know it's starting to sound like a lame excuse, but seriously, nothing in the Michigan economy has gotten better over the last few months so why should our situation have changed. Steve did go for a promising interview, but a guy with like 15 years experience, who came out of retirement, got the job. Bummer for us, but he is obviously more qualified. Steve and I have continuously set a plan for our first year, and the year after that. The delays of a new job are setting that plan further behind. I get a little discouraged from time to time, but I know something will come and it will work out.

The thing is we are in a perfect situation to purchase our first home in Michigan. We are first time home buyers, currently renting. So we wouldn't have to sell something first. I can't wait until we can seriously start looking at a house. Of course moving all four fishtanks is gonna be a bitch. Speaking of our fish two of our fish, the Dempsi and the Dovi have decided to breed. Doesn't look like this first hybrid batch is gonna hatch much of anything though. I wish our angels would breed. Last time the pleco got to the eggs first. Here's a picture of one of our tanks:

The weekend was nice. Steve and I went to the first Vegas Night of the year at the KofC in Dearborn. We usually go to these about 5-6 times a year. Our friend Aj's parents love them and they are for a good cause. Steve and I bring $20 a piece and play until we run out or until we want to leave. It's a good time and the drinks tend to be cheap. Our dealer this last weekend was hilarious! He was an 86 year old man who called himself "Rotten Richard" and had dirty jokes in his pocket. We played for about 4 hours and walked out $16 richer than when we came in. Saturday and Sunday were pretty relaxing. Saturday we decided to be lazy and so we went out for dinner at Charly's on the River (excellent food!) and rented a couple of scary movies. Sunday was more of the same. We wanted to go to Miller's in Dearborn for some good greasy burgers, but they weren't open so we ate at La Pita instead. On the way towards home we decided to go check out what was playing at the IMAX. U2! blah! Skip that. I was hoping to check out that Dinosaur's 3D one. We left and just kind of scenic drove back home and got comfy on the couch again. Not a productive weekend, but nice and relaxing. Just what I needed.

Time for a change

Well my 28th Birthday is imminent. While everyone will be celebrating the Superbowl, cheering on their Patriots or Giants, I will be counting down the last hours of my 27th year. I might do it with some revelry, since everyone is coming over to watch the game at our place. My husband is ever the host, so this happens quite often. I don't mind, I love the feeling of a full house, with everyone gathered around playing cards or watching the big game. Our friends Brittany and Alex have been looking for a house. I'm really excited for them since they seem to have found one they really like in Allen Park. I hope they get it! I do have to say I am a little envious though since this is two of our "couple friends" (who are younger than both of us) to have done this, and Steve and I are still renting. I get the emails everyday though and keep my eyes open online, so that when we are ready, I'll have the perfect one in the wings. I have to admit that I have the perfect one in mind already, but sigh, it will probably filled with someone else's family by the time we can afford it! Boo!

Over the weekend we went to my sister's house to celebrate my youngest niece's 4th birthday. It was fun. I love getting together at her house and getting to spend time with the friends and family that come to their gatherings. Afterwards we went to Ashley's with Alex and Brittany. Steve and I have been there once before, and loved it. This time the service was horrible! It took our server over 15min before she even got our drinks. Our food was messed up. All in all, the only thing good that came out of it was the beer. Alex and I tried the Bell's Winter White, and Steve got the microbrew sampler. Sunday of course people came over to watch the playoffs.

In other news, I cut 6inches off my head! I know, I can't believe I did that either. I was bored and needed a change. I think next time I'll have Tracy put a few more layers in it.

Steve, Allison and I. (like auntie, like niece! haha!)

Uncle Ed and Tommy (see I told you their gatherings are fun!)

This is Michigan after all....

Well from RECORD HIGHS in the 60's last week to highs this weekend in the low teens this is certainly Michigan weather.

Steve and I were watching this show the other day about Evangelical Christians in North Dakota called "Jesus Camp." In it they put down the idea of Global Warming. Saying that it doesn't exist!!! They also showed statistics of how many people in the U.S. are Evangelical Christians, and it makes me worry about all these kids being home schooled that are being taught that Evolution is a lie, and so is Global Warming. Now I'm not one to refute Creationism, but I also think that the Evolution Theory should also be discussed. In this movie they show the children of a few different families in their homes, on vacation, and at camp. At church camp the children speak in tongues, and one little girl seems to be crying all the time. The boys bunk even gets in trouble for telling ghost stories, because it goes against the bible. The woman pastor of this church and of the camp goes on and on about Pro-Life and about how Harry Potter is evil. She even takes some of these children to Washington D.C. to protest abortion by putting stickers over their mouths, after a guest speaker brings in a pictures of fetus' at certain weeks of gestation and tells the children (ages 4-12) what happens during abortion. I love a good documentary into a different way. I would suggest watching this for your own opinion, but from mine I can tell you I will never be joining the Evangelical Christians anytime soon. Especially since the most renowned speaker of this religion 2 months after this show was put together was indicted in a high-profile scandal involving, among other things, homosexual prostitution, and methamphetamine possession. Nice, eh! I've put some clips on the video bar. Check it out.

Sorry about that tangent! I survived the first week of the semester and I have high hopes that it will be a good one! My Applied Marketing teacher already took us on a field trip to Starbucks, and we have 5 more trips planned to other companies. I like that she's thinking outside the box to teach this course. It's refreshing, and more hands on that just sitting there staring at power point slides listening to a lecture for 3 and a half hours. Accounting is on the next night and although it isn't a very riveting subject, the teacher is very laid back and seems reluctant to move on until most of the class has the concept, which I appreciate. Although I'm one of the oldest in this class so it could become annoying with some of the "children" that act that way in this class.

On another note Steve had an interview for a new job at Railroad company yesterday! He said it went well, the shift isn't that great, but it seems like he could like it. Pray for us that they offer him the position! It would be a great stepping stone to stop renting, and buy our first house! I've been paying attention to what is out there in the Downriver area for awhile now, and I'm looking forward to the day where we can seriously start looking and put in "the offer"! Of course if it doesn't happen, we both still go to school and moving out of state isn't far off our minds either. We'll see. Time will tell!

Keep on a Rockin' me Babe-ay!

Things are perfectly the same as they were at the end of the year last week. Although I am one tooth lighter. Before you ask, three things did not happen: 1. Because most of you think I am a clutz (and are usually right)I did not fall and slam my face to knock it out. 2. There was no drama (of course you know I'm a lover not a fighter anyway) and it was not punched out. 3. The mysterious tooth stealing aliens did not abduct me into the night and steal it for DNA purposes.

Simply and plainly, I had a wisdom tooth that was decalcified, it needed to come out, I got it pulled. I was actually surprised how smoothly it went. I was terribly nervous. I have never had a "dental procedure" before. I was used to just going in for my cleaning and leaving, with a big thumbs up and "We'll see you in 6 months!" The dentist was very nice, and made me feel as comfortable as possible (since my heart was beating about 200 bpm). Once it was out, I asked to see it. It was neat to see how large a tooth is with the root intact. Of course because of OSHA I couldn't bring it home to willingly give it to the Tooth Stealing Aliens.

Our New Years Day feast was a hit. I couldn't believe how many people showed up, hangover and all. I made a more "Sarah" version of Rachael Ray's Frenchbread Pizzas, and Steve made a really yummy spinach and artichoke dip. April& Bryan brought some veggies to munch on. Alex brought over some cookies. Steve was going to try an electrolyte smoothie, but I didn't feel like cleaning the mess so we bought some gatorade and called it a day. Here's a picture of Steve in his cooking mode.
I was determined to stay in my P.J.'s all day and succeeded. Here's a picture of me after my cousin 80'd my hair! AND because Alex couldn't be left out of the silliness, this is what we did to him:

Steve's birthday was last Friday. He turned an ancient 27 years old. We had dinner at his Dad's house and then ended up at our favorite watering hold for the remainder of the evening. Steve and I celebrate our birthday's one month apart. So we are the same age for exactly one month.

School starts Wednesday. I haven't bought my books yet, and I'm a bit nervous since most of my friends that were in the same major with me have either switched majors, gotten ahead because I took fall off, or are done all together. I hope the people in my classes are nice. I hate feeling like the new kid!

P.S. When it comes to the championship game tonight here's a picture from out latest tailgating fun that will sum up who we are routing for:
