I have been SMOKE FREE now for about 8 days. Friday and Saturday night were the hardest. Especially at Liz's housewarming party where I was one of 3 people that didn't smoke. Steve has been really good about supporting me. Although he has decided not to join me in the venture to quit yet. He's been smoking outside, and won't smoke in the car with me. Which is really sweet, since I didn't think he'd be so great about me inhibiting his habit.
We had a pretty fun low-key weekend. Especially since I was so sick on Thurs and Friday that I couldn't leave the couch.
Classes are going well, although Accounting is a bitch because the teacher's grading is totally anal. And when I mean anal, she grades to the hundreth of a point! C'mon lady none of us are going to be CPA's here!
Our friend Candie just booked tickets for he and her boyfriend to come home for a visit in about a month so I'm really excited to see her.
Steve passed his test for the job and made it through the first interview, next week is the drug test. Easily passed! So pray for us that we will be a dual income family once again!

Life it's Up and Coming
We it's officially 2 days until my quit date. Tonight I am going shopping to make little quit baggies. I'm going to fill them with little hard candies, rubberbands, straws, sunflower seeds. To begin with I have decided to do it without medical help. I'm not a big fan of medication to begin with since I seem to get every side effect known to man. If I feel I need more help I plan to try the lozenges. I know the biggest part will be going to the bar, and driving. Although I have significantly cut down to help the process (limited myself to between 2-4 a day, unless we're at the bar) I'm still worried about the withdrawl symptoms. I'm determined to do this though because I want to be healthier and we plan to start a family somewhere in the near future.
In other news Steve is going for his test at Great Lakes. I know he'll do well. He's smart and interviews really well. Pray for us that he'll get the job! It would be really great to get our "Planning Train" back on board.

Happy Super Birthday Bowl!
The weekend ended up being super dooper, other than the fact that my mom was sick. Because she was sick we didn't end up cleaning out Papa's basement, but Steve and I did go visit with Papa, and then went ice skating with my sister and her family. It was pretty great. Although I do have to say that it was pretty weird skating after not for over a decade. My neices were skating for their first time so that was fun. I took along my camera and my brother-in-law's sister and mom came along too. Here's a couple pics:

Steve was mostly pulling me here. So I was a bit scared.

My sister has all the skill in the family! lol!

Steve and Allie, this is the cutest picture!
Afterwards we went to Pasquali's and met with Kristen and Aunt Karen. Then we hung out at my sister's until about 11:30.
Sunday I cleaned while Steve went shopping for the Superbowl Party. The more people we talked to the more we felt it was going to be a full house! And we were right! About 20 peeps came over to hangout and watch the game. And Celebrate my Birth! My wonderful husband got me a Fender acoustic! I'm so excited. I've been able to play a little for the last 5 years, but nothing worth being able to say I can actually play. I'm can't wait to learn more. IT came with a case, extra strings, a DVD, and picks. I watched the first 3 "chapters" and practiced last night and Steve seems to think I'm a natural. At least I already know how to read music from playing the clarinet way back when. The party was a success. We made our own squares and everything. Steve won $37, I didn't win any money. Here's some pictures from that:

Time to go, I have to study for an exam that's tonight. Be careful on those roads tonight if you are by me, my mom says they are pure ice!

It's Quitten' Time
Well we didn't get as much snow and the weather guy said (it's usually one way or the other) but my mom is really sick with a cold, so cleaning the basement at my Papa's got cancelled. However we rearranged plans and are still going to visit him and then go ice skaing with my sister and her family (sans baby Tommy). After we are off to Pasquali's for dinner. MY FAVORITE ITALIAN PLACE EVER!!! My Aunt called and she made the cupcakes mentioned earlier so we are going to try to figure out how to get them to me (since she lives over an hour away). I hope something works out! My neices sent me the cutest email today. Called a monk-e mail. IT was a picture of an animated monkey with their voices on it singing "Happy Birthday" to me! I laughed so hard and my sister said they worked on getting it right for like an hour. Too funny.
So Steve's application got accepted at US Steel and he goes in for a test on the 15th. This isn't quite getting hired, but it's definately promising! We're not sure what the test consists of or what job he'd be slated for. But keep us in our prayers that this goes our way! Gotta try to keep our plan in the works, even in this economy! lol! Plus benefits would be awesome!
In school news, the semester is going well. 4 weeks in and I'm feeling pretty confident that it will be a sucessful one. My Applied Marketing teacher is pretty outside the box and takes us on field trips almost every week. So far we've gone to Starbucks, Target, and On the Border. I think next week in Old Navy. Accouting is o.k. There really isn't anyway to make Accounting exciting and at least she's doing the best she can to make us understand it. We took our first exam this past Thursday and I'm feeling pretty confident that it went well!
So the big news about the title is that I went in for my Smoking Cessation program on thursday. I'm not the heaviest smoker, about 4-6 a day, unless I'm drinking, and I've been wanting to see about the different ways to quit for sometime now. I've tried cold turkey and it just hasn't worked out for me. Well my cousin who's in dental school needed a smoking cessation patient, and I decided to do it. I got a bunch of literature and we set my quit date for the 14th! Valentine's Day. I was worried about weight gain and irritation. The instructor told me that most people's avarage weight gain in 5-7 pounds and there are alot of techniques I can use to calm the irritation. She really suggested a yoga class, or if I don't have time to try to meditate. She showed me all the different forms of medication. I think I'm going to try it without the medicine and if I feel that I can't seem to cope I'll try something that's over the counter. The Lozenges looks the best for me. So WISH ME LUCK! Hopefully soon I'll join the world of the non-smokers!
