Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children. ~George Bernard Shaw

This weekend was my nephew's 1st birthday party. In honoring the tradition of birthday parties my sister and Laurie made a really fun train cake:

Of course Tommy made a complete mess with his slice of train and by the end had to be dipped in the bath.

but he obviously loved Chocolate! A boy after my own heart.

Steve and I had a really nice weekend. Friday we had a few people over to watch the hockey game, and got to bed quite late (or early I should say). For some reason my husband decided to break out the bottle of Capomo Tequila that we brought back from Mexico (one of the only things we have from our honeymoon. Stupid American Airlines!)so things got a little hazy the later the night went on.

Saturday we woke up at the crack of noon, took a couple advil and started our day. I had been craving the homemade jerky from the outlet in Luna Pier, so we took a drive down there and bought a couple bags worth of all different kinds. Then we took a ride to Frenchtown mall and got a couple things at Steve & Barry's. I got my nephew a cute shirt with a pacifier on it that said "Pacifist" next to it, as part of his birthday present. Then we decided to splurge a little and we went to Red Lobster and both had the King Crab Legs. We really had a good time making a big mess, and our server was awesome. After making the huge mess we headed to Blockbuster and rented a couple flicks and stayed in for the night.

Sunday was Tommy's birthday party, and we made it home just in time to watch the last half of the hockey game. I was busy doing laundry while Steve and Mike yelled at the TV. I must've gotten a bee in my bonnet or something because I decided to sort through my sock drawyer too. After I had a small pile of never going to find that match again socks, this is what my 27 year old husband and his friend decided to do with my mismatched socks:

After they were done "playing", Mike took me for my very first motorcycle ride! It was awesome! I've ok'd the purchase of one for Steve, AFTER we have the house. It was pretty thrilling!

Life, Puppies and Women cannot be raised on Pizza....

so says my ever philosophical husband. I thought that was so funny, that it must be quoted. We were driving down Telegraph on our way home from the mall and trying to decide what to get for supper when that sentence just fell out of his mouth. Either way, his obvious veto was pizza. Which led me to want to list my top five favorite pizza's.

5. Little Caesars Hot-N-Ready (for no other reason than it is 5 bucks, and satifies a need)

4. Jet's (they are always super cheesy, and I love square pizza)

3. Frank's Pizza (Wyandotte's Family owned classic, good eats! But be prepared to wait)

2. Joey's on Wampler's (Gotta make the hike to Irish Hills for this one, but the friendly staff and the size of the cheesy goodness, plus the lakeview is totally worth it)

1. Old Chicago (Now I'm not sure if it's because it's new or not, but the option of roasted garlic on the pizza makes the slice, plus they have like 100 different beer options, the service is friendly, it's close to home, and the pricing is very reasonable)

Girls night was definately a blast on Friday night. It was so nice to see Marisa! Everytime I see her I miss her more when she leaves. She loves it in Albuquerque though so I hope to go visit her soon! Here she is from Friday night:

School is going well this semester, although it's definately the most overwhelming semester yet. I just had my first Accounting 2 test last night and although he's a bit more lax, the idea's are getting harder for my brain to wrap around. Marketing Seminar is going to be a b*$&#$, I love the teacher though so it really makes me want to excel in this class. For our final project we have to write an entire Marketing Plan for a current business (Marketing Plans are typically between 15-25 pages, the one our group did last semester for Marketing Management was 28 pages and that was for a made up company). This Plan then gets graded on a Rubric Grading System and sent to Owosso to the Main Campus where it is graded AGAIN by a 5 panel group of teachers. This then determines the eligibility of getting our degree. Hmmm, what's that, oh Hi MR. PRESSURE nice to see you again! I thought we said goodbye 7 months ago after the wedding? Good news is that after this I have 2 classes and my Internship to get my degree. Bad news is that it's not my BA. That's another couple years down the road. Any degree is better than none though, and I worked my butt off to get this far.

And with that said, I've got an 8 page paper due tomorrow on a Starbucks case study that was assigned last week.

I can keep rythym with no metronome

This week has been so crazy busy. I started this blog on Tuesday and have just decided to scrap it and restart. First I had family in from Seatlle which is always guaranteed to prove a good time with the fam. Here's a couple pics:

This is all of us first cousins. I know there are only 5 (the little one is my sister's youngest daughter) of us, but I think that's plenty of personality to go around in our family! Since we're all crazy and goofy! To prove it here's a couple that might make you smile:

These were all from my Papa's 90th birthday party. Which was an absolute blast. Plus he had fun, which was the point after all.

On Tuesday, Steve and I went and bought bikes. We went to Meijer because we just wanted cruisers and they had the best deals. Well we spent so much at Meijer and because of this they gave us a free Slow Roasted Chicken! hahaha! I was like, um, ok thanks for the free chicken. But damn if it wasn't one of the best tasting free chickens EVER. We went to stuff the bikes in the car and of course both of them wouldn't fit, so I rode one home (almost a mile).

Marisa flys in tonight from Albuquerque, GIRLS NIGHT TOMORROW! Can't wait!

Damn the man. Save the Empire

Well I'm not quite sure if Spring is here to stay, but the week has been promising. We haven't gotten to the point to throw the ball around yet, but that's because of the mud and rain. Most of the snow has been melted and the green seems to be coming back into the grass. The only snow left is the dirty muddy snow in spots that the sun hasn't quite hit yet. Spring is a good feeling. My endorphins seem to do a flip inside and my happy mood increases. Plus my good friend and her new husband are in town, so we've been spending time with them. I took the Tadlocks to Opening Day. Candie's husband Ryan has never been to Detroit, so I thought he might enjoy getting into the party that comes along with Tiger's Opening Day. Here's a couple pics:

The weather wasn't too horrible, low 50's but overcast ALL day long. Yesterday we went down to Mexican town to eat at Xochimilco's with them and Pril & Frank. Good times. I think we were all ready for a nap after we left there.

Tonight my Uncle Mark and his family should be landing in Detroit from Seattle for my Papa's 90th birthday celebration on Saturday. We're getting family portraits done, with all the fam. I'm responsible for the fruit tray! Good job on designating that to be my job, Mom! haha! I guess they've learned that I'm only good for hor d'oeuvres! Seriously, my dips are fantastic, but get any harder than that and you have to turn to my husband. He's the chef in the family. I would need to follow a recipe to exactness, and even then in might not turn out right! hahahaha!

School starts this week. So Wednesday's and Monday's are my long days. I hate not getting home until ten at night. It's exhausting! But C'est la vie!

(dang I'm on it with the French words today! lol!)
