A little peek into life at the Miller's

I missed Manly Monday, but I loved the idea that came from Stupid Stork so I thought I'd post a little about Steve-O and our marriage.

My Husband

* Steve has a online shopping addiction. Like, SERIOUSLY, man shops more than I do. There is not a week that goes by where we aren't receiving some little random package in the mail. The weirdest thing received to date is a box full of watch pieces her ordered on Ebay. He is not a jeweler, nor does he own a plethora of watches which are missing parts. He also one purchased a TRILLION DOLLAR BILL from some weird obscure little country, just so he could say he has a "one trillion dollar bill". Incidentally it's worth about $2 dollars and 6 cents.

* He is the KING of televiser-phoner-netting. At any given time he is downloading new apps to his phone, Texting his buddy about a trade on his fantasy team, Perusing the internet for the next big "deal" on amazon, and/or watching sports/geeky stupid alien sci-fi movies on HBO. If I even attempt to change the channel of whatever crap is on the TV, he kindly and sternly tells me "Hey, I was watching that!" I always call BS, and I ALWAYS win!

* He is completely obsessed with the lawn. He's like one of those grumpy old men who yell at the children riding by to stay off the lawn. Our lawn has gotten a bit shambly this summer, what with the consistent 3 months of 90 degree weather, compounded with the time and energy spent loving on our precious Callie, and the fact that we do not have a sprinkler system. He seems to be a bit crazier than usual distraught and wants to re-sod the whole front lawn, but I think some seed will go a long way.

* Steve likes to plan "spontaneous trips" to places close by, but then reads up on everything you can do in that area and plans out what we can do in the amount of time we have in said place. Effectively taking away the spontaneity of the trip. Which I happen to find endearing. Example: we planned a romantic trip to Niagara Falls last summer and decided to wing it and just see the sights. He actually downloaded a Niagara Falls app onto the IPAD, which showed lesser known attractions in the area. To his credit I don't think we would've visited the Buddhist Temple without the knowledge of this app. It was an awesome trip. Sidenote; Niagara falls has more Starbucks in one general 4 block radius than I have ever seen in my life.

* He used to live in Germany when he was in the Army and loves telling me stories from his time there over and over. Which, one, makes me incredibly jealous that he's been to so many places, and two, makes me remind him to keep promising to take me there one day.

* He doesn't mind that I'm 3 inches taller than him. I had never dated a guy shorter than me before Steve. I hadn't even considered the idea because I'd always been a bit self conscious about my 6 foot frame. He pursued me for a few months before I entertained the idea of dating him. I gotta give him credit. Persistence paid off. That and he's a good kisser. I was hooked!

Our Weird Little Marriage

* He used to be the cook in the house and then I made bacon one day and everything changed. Now I'm the meal maker, and he's the enjoyer of the food I make. He is quite encouraging of the new things I try. I think this is because he wants me to keep cooking so he doesn't have to. Well played, sir, well played.

* He sent me on a scavenger hunt for THE PROPOSAL. He came up with all these little rhyming riddles that sent me to different places that mean something to us and our relationship. It ended at the tip of Point Pelee when he asked me to marry him. Incredibly romantic and well planned. Its hard to surprise me and I didn't even know he had bought a ring already! We go to Point Pelee every year, it's fun to visit and remember that day.

* I like to snuggle on the couch with him in the evenings by propping a pillow on his lap and watch TV or read my book. I call it "Getting some Beef". He's got a bit of a tummy, and his little sister Shelby used to call him "Beefy", it stuck.

* He calls me Love Muffin. I have no idea where it came from. It's my name in his phone. It's even my name for my fantasy football team. When we found out we were pregnant, he called the baby mini-muffin.

* Every year for our anniversary we like to come up with clever gifts using the "traditional" theme. For our 3rd anniversary (leather) I took him horseback riding and he got me awesome cowgirl boots. This year is wood for our 5th anniversary. hmmm....

* We say I love you in many different ways. There are various forms. Sometimes he tells me in German. Sometimes I put hearts in his peanut butter on his sandwiches. Sometimes he makes the bed so I don't have to. Sometimes I don't get mad at him for eating my little pint of ice-cream, when I bought him his own full size tub of a different flavor, but he decided mine looked tastier. Now you know that's saying "I love you!"
-------------------------------

Now that we are a family of three, its a bit harder to find the twosome that made us a threesome. So it's nice to reflect on what brought us to this point. Callie is our world and we are revolving around her like she is the Sun. We are blessed.

That's awesome! Love it! Right now, if I wrote one of these, it would probably say, "Jason and I are surviving right now. Period." lol! Glad to see you take some time to reflect on a wonderful marriage:).
